Jaisalmer, the desert city

img_8710Living for a few weeks in Jaisalmer and more specifically at the Mystic Jaisalmer Hotel & Mystic Derwish Hostel where I worked as a Workawayer, have been of great help and I think it was a good school to get in touch with this world.

Here I met wonderful people, dedicated to meditation and to the spirituality who are teaching me a lot. I met local families, entered in their homes, played with children, tasted homemade sweets, and I knew better about the Rajasthan culture and the gypsy desert culture.

I don’t know yet how the other places of Rajasthan and this Subcontinent will be, which I may see, but of one thing I’m sure, nothing will be like Jaisalmer, considered by many people a jewel, a city surrounded by the desert of Thar, wherein the fort attended by tourists there are also local people, where losing yourself in its streets, you can observe moments of daily life, children who study or playing in the streets or in the squares, women who tint their hair with the henna, etc. A city where just walking out the main streets will seem to walk on the streets of a village.

In general, both the fort and the city outside the walls, contain palaces of great value and everything you would expect to see imagining India and the particular Rajasthan, a huge architectural and historical heritage!

From the hostel/hotel terrace you have a spectacular view of the fort to admire every hour of the day and night, but another aspect is to be able to observe the daily life from above and to see women wash and stretch Clothes, kids playing with kites, here is a real passion, cows and cows.

This place, has something special, something that attracts people with broken hearts to come here to relieve their wounds. Here I found my peacefulness and my home.
